Getting around Glasgow

From Glasgow Airport to Glasgow City Center (about 1/2 hour) by bus possibly longer by taxi because of the bus lanes

For 2 or more people, a taxi is the easiest and the cost will be reasonable per person.   Follow the signs to Taxi and there will be a queue. You can just line up and you will be given the next taxi that can fit 2 or more. It is all very orderly.   If the taxi driver doesn’t know where the Piper’s Tryst Hotel is, tell them it is right next to the Piping Center, and if they don’t know where that is (really?) then ask for the Theatre Royal.  The Piper’s Tryst is right across the street from the Theatre Royal.

For one person, I would recommend taking the First Glasgow Airport Bus (bus #500).  It is £7.50 one way, and I think it was  £12 “return” (which means round trip). First Glasgow Bus

If you’re staying at the Piper’s Tryst, you get off at the Buchanan Station.  Then you would have about a 5 min walk to the hotel or there is a taxi stand right at the bus station, so you could take a taxi for the last bit.

Arriving in Glasgow at Queen Street Station

When you get off the train at Glasgow at Queen Street Station, look for the Buchanan Street exit.

When you get outside, make a left and go down the hill to George Street.
